the songs of jason lee haines

Biography

After years of life on the move in the USA and abroad, Pennsylvania native Jason Lee Haines finally settled down long enough to allow his musical ideas a chance to catch up with him in the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria. Songs began to be written on acoustic & resonator guitars, mandolin, banjo and ukulele. This modest collection of folk instruments shared a common theme of  tonewoods among their construction, and there you have it.. Maple & Mahogany.

The Maple & Mahogany EP was released in 2017 along with Jason's self-designed and brewed Maple & Mahogany beer. This now legendary hoppy brown ale was aged on actual Maple & Mahogany wood leftover from guitars built by luthier Reinhard Blumberger. Minds were blown that night as the audience simultaneously delighted in the frequencies of the very woods whose flavors danced with their taste buds.

At the moment Maple & Mahogany continues as a solo act as Jason has retreated from Europe to get back to his roots in Pennsylvania and heal from complex trauma. He is currently inspired by the atmosphere at his new job building guitar bodies for Martin Guitar and is planning the facelift of Maple & Mahogany via new writing, recording & video projects.
